Michael Moorcock holds down a similar role in the Hawkwind family tree as Bob Calvert. In fact whenever Bob was unable to perform with Hawkwind for any period of time due to Bobs occasional hospitalisation Michael Moorcock would take up the reins as it were. He always stood down however when Bob Calvert returned to the band. Michael did however maintain contact with the band and provided lyrics for them in particular for the album Warrior On the edge Of Time and latterly the Chronicle of the Black Sword, which was, based around the character of Elric that first appeared in one of the many sci- fi novels that Michael Moorcock has written.

Michael also recorded an album under the title of Michael Moorcock and Deep Fix. The album was entitled New World's Fair and Deep Fix was actually a number of different musicians including the likes of Dave Brock, Nick Turner, Allan Powell, Simon King, Terry Ollis and Simon House.

The album was a concept piece of sorts and as can be seen by the line up of musicians included many members of Hawkwind both past and present. The album was originally released in 1975 and while a great many Hawkwind fans rate the album very highly the critics were less than fair.

Rollercoaster Holiday is an alternative look at the New World's Fair album including as it does different mixes and tracks that didn't appear on the original album including the tracks Dodgem Dude and Starcruiser. Also included are three bonus tracks from the same period, which are different versions of the tracks Candy Floss Cowboy, Starcruiser and Dudes Dream.

All the tracks have been re mastered from the original tapes and the CD comes with a booklet detailing the sessions that has been written by John Davey who has been involved with the release of this album. Rollercoaster Holiday is an album that will be eagerly received by the large Hawkwind and Michael Moorcock fan base.
