Crawling (23.23) 2. Dead of night (22.50) "Crawling. a windswept island of desolation currents, creating a picture of creeping, infinite coldness. Full of trickling instruments pressing downward upon a frozen keyboard. It's deepness is only interrupted by the computer-like jabbering of the machine it serves. This Death House : Abstract, dark ambient atmospheres. The result of improvisation with early analogue electronics over the summer of 1982. These two long pieces of unsettling electronic soundscapes were inspired by the horror film genre and in particular the works of George A. Romero. The recordings pre-date the first album proper – The Attrition of Reason - and were originally release on cassette only on the Adventures in Reality label in late 1982. This Death House has remained popular and has been re-issued sporadically over the years, on cassette, vinyl and finally CD. The album has been re-mastered in 2007 by Attrition founder Martin Bowes and is now available worldwide for the first time…
“The drones and tape manipulations released as This Death House prefigured dark ambient “isolationism” by almost 10 years…” Manny Theiner, Pittsburgh City Paper 2007 Websites: www.attrition.co.uk www.myspace.com/danteskitchen Contact: Martin Bowes info@attrition.co.uk
