Bridge of Inhibition Bill Bruford was a founding member of Yes from 1968-1972, and while with the band recorded five albums, each of which was more successful than its predecessor. When he left Yes in 1972 for King Crimson following the release of “Close To The Edge”, there were those who concluded that he’d taken leave of his senses. But it proved an astute musical move. When King Crimson’s enigmatic leader Robert Fripp decided to split the band after three tumultuous albums and move on to other projects, Bill moved to playing countless sessions, and was also briefly a member of the bands National Health, Gong and, more famously, Genesis, where he played alongside Phil Collins, who had just stepped up to the microphone following the departure of Peter Gabriel. Bill was the drummer in Genesis situation for most of 1976 while the band toured their album “A Trick Of The Tail”. Since then Bill has developed as a full time jazz drummer, composer, and bandleader in several contexts, and his group Earthworks has been turning heads internationally for 20 years. Back by public demand! Recorded in 2001, and originally released as a companion DVD to the excellent double CD Footloose and Fancy Free, Footloose in NYC has been out of print for several years. This unique DVD gives you the whole Earthworks experience – 1’50” of concert footage, and 20” of exclusive backstage footage and interviews lets you enjoy an intimate, up-close evening of state-of-the-art jazz at The Bottom Line in New York City. This re-issued DVD now comes as a two DVD set containing a 90 minute bonus Sampler DVD of Bill discussing his other DVD titles in an illustrated interview with Jon Kirkman. Effortless, elegant and economical, Bruford personifies the art of the drummer, and his group Earthworks "cast new light on the jazz quartet format". Los Angeles Times.
