Howard Riley is considered one of the main movers in the British free jazz movement alongside the likes of Keith Tippett and has released regular albums since the late sixties. Born In Huddersfield in 1943 Howard began playing at the ridiculously early age of six and formed a love of jazz, which continues to this day.

Whilst playing at various jazz clubs during the day Howard managed to gain a masters degrees in music from the Universities of Wales, Indiana and also York

Having been accepted on the free jazz and improvised music scene he has worked with many people in various formats including a duo with Keith Tippett and also trios and a co led quartet with Soft Machine's Elton Dean.

Howard has also worked in a solo capacity and recorded many albums. He was resident composer at the Centre of the creative and performing arts in Buffalo New York during the period 1976/1977 and has also run jazz and piano workshops at the Guildhall School Of Music and Goldsmiths College since the late sixties.

This recording is part of the ongoing Live At Lincoln Cathedral series of recordings and this performance was recorded binaurally in keeping with the other recordings in the series.

The recording will appeal to lovers of fine music in addition to the loyal fan base Howard has built up over the last thirty plus years
