'Under The Blue Sky' will be a must for his large and loyal fanbase as not only is Gordon's playing on top form but he has lovingly written the sleeve notes. Gordon has written his very personal thoughts about each track of the album which is dedicated to his wife Hilary. Bert Jansch plays on one of the tracks which is his own composition 'Chambertin' which means that followers of the great guitarist will find this cd of interest. Gordon plays all other guitars and synthesizers but is joined on some of the tracks by Hilary Ashe-Roy (flute), Kevin Dempsey (second guitar) and Jonathon Miller (keyboards). There is a brilliant cover of George Harrison's 'Here Comes The Sun' as well as new compositions by Gordon combined with old favourites such as 'The Picnic' from his 'Troubadour' album which was written for the musical Heathcliffe. Gordon Giltrap represents a unique British musical talent, having evolved a guitar style which is as individual as his music is recognisable. Gordon's astonishing technique comprises of elements of all musical genres and transcends barriers of style and taste. This has enabled him to compose some of the most stunning acoustic guitar works of recent decades. | |
