Gordon Giltrap is quite rightly acclaimed as one of the most influential and revered guitarists to come out of the UK in the last thirty odd years. He acquired his first real guitar at the age of twelve and like so many young aspiring guitarists was influenced by the musicians of the day. In this instance Hank Marvin, Pete Townshend, Julian Bream, The Beatles and Bert Jansch amongst others. As he was self taught Gordon developed a distinctive style of his own which became a recognisable style all of it’s own. Starting his professional career in 1968 Gordon began to work at the celebrated Les Cousins club in London along with contemporaries like Al Stewart, John Martyn and John Renbourn to name a few. Gordon signed a recording deal in the late sixties and recorded two albums before playing on the 1970 album by folk-rock band Accolade. Gordon’s third album was his first for a major label (MCA) and was entitled A Testament Of Time. Shortly after the release of this album Gordon started to pursue an instrumental style, which reached, it’s height on albums like Visionary, Perilous Journey and Fear Of The Dark. Gordon’s career has taken him through many styles including folk, rock and classical. He is probably best known for his hit single Heartsong which was a hit in the late seventies and was featured on the album perilous Journey. It was also featured as the theme tune for the long running BBC television programme The Holiday Programme.

In addition to this Gordon has recorded many albums over the years including a tribute to one of his own influences Bert Jansch. Gordon continues to perform and record and is still held in high esteem by his contemporaries such as Queen’s Brian May, Ritchie Blackmore and Bert Jansch.

Drifter is Gordon's latest studio album following a series of live albums and collaborations with artists like Raymond Burley.

The album is a return to the style popularised on his many previous studio albums and is an eclectic mix of a number of styles which all manage to weave their way into the style that is unmistakably Gordon Giltrap.

The album comes complete with booklet containing sleeve notes and album recording information. It also contains a live bonus disc from Huntingdon Hall.
