‘Anti-Capitalism’ is the fourth and last in the series of Overground Records critically acclaimed Anarcho Punk CD compilations that began in Feb 2005 with the first release ‘Anti-War’ and have been chronicling and serving as the definitive guide to the 1980s Anarcho-Punk scene ever since. This important series is a long overdue, aural history document of an integral, important and hugely influential part of UK punk scene that has, until now, largely been written out of punk history.

The albums have been hailed by reviewers and listeners alike as the most important punk re-issue series in well over a decade. AMP magazine said An essential purchase; Maximum Rock’n’Roll called them absolutely mandatory; in the UK Rock Sound said vital; Big Cheese important and excellent; Record Collector an excellent introduction; Kerrang! brimming with anti-establishment rhetoric; Terrorizer pick this up now; Punkoiuk essential purchase; Punktastic highly recommended whilst a myriad of zines, magazines and radio shows have ran features and conducted interviews.

Each release was compiled by Sean McGhee (ex-Psycho Faction) who spent over three years researching the series, not least tracking down bands who split over two decades ago, obtaining permission and ploughing through around 3500-4000 tracks to choose the 90 tracks that made up the series.

Anti-Capitalism includes 23 tracks, 17 of which are previously unreleased or exclusive versions, including a previously unavailable version of a Crass track, the prime movers in the anarcho punk scene, plus rare and unheard material from some of the scenes other leading names: Conflict, Rudimentary Peni, Antisect, The Epileptics plus some of the Anarcho punks scenes stalwart acts: Culture Shock, D&V, Legion Of Parasites, Living Legends, Hex, Cravats, Danbert Nobacon and a host of lost scene legends: Atomic Filth, Freeborn, Anarka & Poppy, Kulturkampf, Committee and many more.

The chunky 24 page booklet contains biographies, info, rare photos and contact details with a foreword written by Penny Rimbaud, founder member of Crass, that recalls the time when punk meant so much more than fashion, hairstyle and pop tunes and was a rallying call to the many thousands of young punks who formed bands, pressure groups, campaigned against the war machine, protested against capitalism, collectively created their own local scene, wrote fanzines and marched against injustice.

Anti-Capitalism is the perfect introduction and soundtrack to the underground and cutting edge of the punk scene at the time, when revolution seemed not just necessary but inevitable.
