Still Got the Magic Rick Springfield is an Australian-American songwriter, musician and actor. As a musician he is most famous for the 1981 single “Jessie’s Girl”, which became a Grammy Award-winning landmark of 1980s pop-rock and helped establish the emerging music video age Rick would go onto have a number of massively popular singles through the eighties both in America and also in the UK. He was even one of the featured artists on the Philadelphia leg of the historic Live Aid Concerts in 1985. Also an actor, Springfield’s best known role is that of the character Dr. Noah Drake on the daytime drama General Hospital. He originated the character from 1981-1983 and then returned to play him again from 2005 until presentOriginally recorded in 1978 before Rick’s musical and television success the tracks on this album show Rick Springfield to be moving towards the direction he would ultimately adopt in the eighties. The album includes the track Bruce a song all about Rick Springfield lamenting the fact that his surname was similar to that of Bruce Springsteen and how people were mistaking Rick for Bruce. The song was also a minor hit. Kim Carnes also appears as a backing vocalist on several tracks of the album. | |
