Les Fleurs De Lys Biography
Les Fleur de Lys was a British band originally formed in late 1964, in Southern England. They recorded singles from 1965 in the Mod style, evolving into the psychedelic pop which became recognised as Freakbeat. Known for their varied line-ups, only drummer Keith Guster was a member throughout their history. Jimmy Page produced their debut single and co-produced the second release with Glynn Johns. During the sixties Les Fleur De Lys also recorded with Sharon Tandy and released a single ‘The Reflections Of Charles Brown’ under the name, Rupert’s People.
The band finally split in 1969. Keyboardist Pete Sears went on to play many sessions, some for Rod Stewart, performing on his album ‘Every Picture Tells A Story’. Pete would eventually join Jefferson Starship by way of the band Stoneground. Another former member of Les Fleur de Lys, Gordon Haskell, briefly joined King Crimson in the seventies and would achieve huge success as a solo artist in late 2001 with the single, ‘How Wonderful You Are’.
