Dave Bainbridge & Troy Donockley
From Silence
The names of Troy Donockley and Dave Bainbridge will be familiar to fans of progressive rock and Celtic music. Not only are both members of one of the premier Celtic progressive rock bands Iona but they both have thriving solo careers and in the case of Troy Donockley a thriving session and production career to his credit also.

In addition to recording albums and touring with Iona over the last twelve months Troy has played sessions for Mostly Autumn and produced and played on the recent album from Barbara Dickson. Troy also released his second solo album in 2004 the Pursuit Of Illusion, which was the follow up to his debut solo album 1998 The Unseen Stream.

Dave Bainbridge in addition to writing and touring with Iona has managed to release his debut solo album in 2004 the mainly instrumental Veil Of Gossamer.

While Iona was taking a short sabbatical both Troy and Dave decided to work together on a project that has become the album From Silence.

The album is made up of five pieces entitled From Silence parts one through six.

"With no music prepared, just an idea of which instruments we might play, we decided from the outset to seek our inspiration from our surroundings and the cathedral's acoustics, so that the music would, in some way become part of the building, and aspire, for the 70 minutes or so that we played without a break, to something beyond ourselves".

This DVD is the companion piece to the CD release and features the live performance filmed in Lincoln Cathedral. The bonus features on the DVD also include interviews with Troy Donockley and Dave Bainbridge and also an interview about the binaural recording process, which is a feature of the CD.
